First of all i would like to say

This post is for all my malay friends out there...

Do you know what is the meaning of Hari Raya for malays??

Well, it means Celebration Day of Fasting..

During muslim month of ramadan leading up to Raya, it is mandatory that all muslims are to fast from dawn to dusk. They must also abstain from pleasures such as smoking cigarettes and sexual activites during the daylight of the fasting month.

On the eve of Raya , they usually will have takbir on mosque. Many people usually return to their home town to celebrate raya. Hence it will cause traffic jam and sometime even accident. So it is wise for those going back to their hometown to drive safely.

They usually will have open house on Raya. The people will be served with malay delicacies such as kuih.
